National NeighborWoods Month™ is ACT's annual community service campaign, which in October 2009 resulted in over 700 volunteer events delivered by local partners in 231 cities across the country. Campaign partners planted 36,000 trees, engaged 24,000 volunteers, and educated the public about sustainability through education and media outreach. With 180 grassroots affiliates in 41 states and Canada, ACT engages volunteers to take action to improve the environment where 80% of people live – in urban areas. ACT member organizations have planted and cared for 15 million trees in cities with help from over 5 million volunteers.
